The awesome Meg @Adrift on Vulcan tagged me. Let the party begin..
Greed
What is your most expensive book? What is your least expensive?
Well, you know me, I'm all about the posh stuff. No, not really. The most expensive book I have is probably The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. It's not that much more expensive than the rest of my hardcovers. Around 18$.
The least expensive was a secondhand book titled The Mexican. It's based on a movie by Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. It was roughly around 1.50$.
Wrath
Which author do you have a love-hate relationship with?
Cassandra Clare. Loved the first TMI books, but when I read the second one, it all started crashing down, and I started pointing out plot holes in the entire series.
Gluttony
What book have you deliciously devoured over and over with no shame whatsoever?
I don't reread books, but if I did, it would be Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor.
Also, I once reread The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, but let's not talk about that.
Sloth
What book have you neglected to read due to laziness?
Requiem by Lauren Oliver. It's not so much laziness, as the fact that I know I'm not going to like it. Plus, the whole Julian/Alex triangle doesn't interest me anymore.
There are others, because you know.. Sloth is my middle name.
Pride
What book do you most talk about in order to sound like a very intellectual reader?
50 Shades of Grey, and A Shore Thing by Snooki Polizzi. People totally believe I'm intellectual afterwards. I can read it in their
Seriously though, I don't think I've read any of the "acclaimed" books, or whatever they call them. I read books that I know will enjoy, and if I'll boast about anything, it will be about how awesome they were. If you should insist, though, I once attempted to read a dictionary. BEAT THAT!
Lust
What attributes do you find most attractive in male or female characters?
*flexes hands* This is gonna be a looooong list, son. Why not do it in a fun way?
Intelligent. This is very important for me. Like me some smart guys.
Romantic? Respectful? Reem-obsessed? ..Wait, what? I may have googled adjectives starting with R.
Easy going. Laid back. I love characters that genuinely don't give a shit
Amusing. I value humor, you guys. I really do.
D heheheeeeee. What, you didn't know I had a 10 year old's mentality? Shocker.
&
Tall.
Eccentric. There has got to be at least one weird thing about him
Likeable.
Loyal. Not necessarily to the MC, but to family, friends and that sort of thing.
Envy
What books would you most like to receive as a gift?
Do you know those royal scrolls that extend for miles and miles? That's my wish list. But if I had to pick..
Lips Touch: Three Times by Laini Taylor,
Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.
So, I know I should tag someone by the end of this post, but honestly? I want EVERYONE to join in on the fun. If you read this, you're tagged!
OH this is so cool! I might just join in, because it's an appealing prospect to Reem-ize my blog with a similar post HAHAHA. Anywaaaaay I totally hurt my wallet with the 5th Wave too. No regrets though! And I've never read TMI (it scares me to) so for now, nothing but the loving for Cassie Clare :) I DNFed the Delirium books too. Didn't even get to Pandemonium @-) the acrostic idea is so cute!! I totally don't get what happened to the D in read though =)) anyway, this was an entertaining post as always :D
ReplyDeleteYay! I like to see this tag spreading :) 5th Wave!!! Loved that book, though I have it in ebook so my copy wasn't that pricey :) I tried to read TMI, but it's just not for me. Probably not going to see the movie either. And you should just forget about Requiem, it doesn't worth your time, imho. Haha, great acrostic poem :)
ReplyDeleteI was really tempted to get The 5th Wave in hardback, but them I realized I didn't really want to spend so much on a SINGLE BOOK, so I just stuck with paperback. Not regretting that decision now!
ReplyDelete"Sloth is my middle name." LOL. I can say the same about myself. I'd encourage you to just read Requiem and get it over with, but yeah, the book wasn't as spectacular as the other two, so I guess you're not missing out much if you don't read it.
And yes to all those attributes! It's definitely uber portent that he's weird, so I wot feel weird myself! ;)
Okay, typing on my phone is definitely not one of my strong suits.
ReplyDelete* uber important
* won't
I'm going to do this when I have a free day in my schedule! I once attempted a dictionay read...I didn't make it past B. I ended up really bored and my head was hurting, lol. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGreed
ReplyDeleteWhat is your most expensive book? What is your least expensive?
Dude. You know how expensive adult hardcovers are? We're lucky that YA books are usually only <$18. If it weren't for Amazon Prime, I would've paid like $35 for JK Rowling's adult title (Casual Vacancy, I think, was sold for that much.) And heee, depends on how we're discussing least expensive. What if booksellers list the used novel at 0.99 but you ultimately have to pay shipping? Hmm?
Wrath
Which author do you have a love-hate relationship with?
Cassandra Clare -- hahah, I think this is an opinion shared widely across the blogosphere for the reasons you listed and more. I can't think of any off the top of my head unless we're counting past shelves in which case I will shamefully admit to having once liked Hush, Hush and now feeling revolted by that previous like.
Gluttony
What book have you deliciously devoured over and over with no shame whatsoever?
FUNNY YOU MENTIONED DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE because I actually took it down from my shelf today to reread a few passages. Definitely a dog-eared book. Ugh, Laini Taylor and her writing <3.
Sloth
What book have you neglected to read due to laziness?
We must share middle names... I haven't even gotten to Delirium yet, though so you're ahead of me there ;).
Pride
What book do you most talk about in order to sound like a very intellectual reader?
Ha. Definitely have not attempted to read a dictionary. Also I always feel behind on literary classics. I don't think there is just one book that makes you "sound" that way, and yeugh I hate this question on principle. Like the other books aren't worthy of intellectual analysis either?
Lust
What attributes do you find most attractive in male or female characters?
Lol. I like the D adjective. Very nice. And Reem-obsessed works out quite well, I'd imagine :). I feel like there's got to be at least one weird thing about everyone but whether or not they reveal it... FUNNY this list is reminding me of how you chose Akiva over Raffe hehehe when Raffe fits two of these categories more than A does ;).
Envy
What books would you most like to receive as a gift?
When's your birthday? Perhaps one of your blog commenters can send you one of the said books around then ;).
Oh, this is such a fun idea! I've seen booktubers do this, but I haven't seen any actual do a written posts for it. I think The 5th Wave is also the the most expensive *single* book I've bought--I have some anthologies that have multiple books(like a Jane Austen) set that were more, but since those were like 7 books in a set I feel it was a good deal.
ReplyDeleteReem-ize your blog all you want! Haha!! I've heard people say TID series is much better than TMI, so there's that. I know she's one of your favorite authors, so I understand you not wanting to read the series. Pandemonium was alright, I guess. My favourite is Delirium, though.
ReplyDeleteI know right? I was thinking about letting my friend summarize it to me. I'm slow reader as it is :P
ReplyDeleteOh, and so glad you liked it :)
I would have totally understood it without the correction. 'cause I'm a mind reader, you know. Everyone thinks the same about Requiem, so I don't think I'll bother, tbh.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I wasn't a fan of the 5th Wave. It was a miss or hit with people, and ugh.. I had problems with it. Lots of them.
Yaay! Can't wait to read your post. Sure it will be awesome :)
ReplyDeleteWHAT?! That's ridiculous!! *hugs my YA books*. Come to think about it, that's why Stormdancer was ridiculously expensive. It was marketed as Adult for some reason, right?
ReplyDeleteUmm, yeah, Cassandra is kind of controversial :P She does seem sweet in real life though. And I like some of her blog posts. Just.. not her books :P
I do the same!! I even drew a calligraphy of one of her passages. It was awful, but worth a try :P
Delirium was nice. One of the first YA books I've read, so that would explain the fascination.
I think you wrote a post about books that are considered "intellectual" before, right? But you're totally right. I don't like the way it sounds either.
Haha! :p And they do, don't they? Akiva isn't very approachable but he IS romantic, so there's that. Maybe it's the way Laini describes him that makes me so in love?
Ha! It's almost a year away, and you know my dilemma with shipping :P But, I like this post because I can spy on other people's wishlist. Will come in handy around their birthdays :P
Oh, I've never seen a vlogger do it! I thought it was originally made my a blogger, but google cleared that up :P
ReplyDeleteWeird to see most of you have the 5th Wave as the most expensive :P Maybe because it was really hyped and a new release.
I've never bought an anthology, but I guess they would be pricey as well.
This is the third 7 deadly sins post I've read. And I swear, it never gets old. Haha. I've tried answering this in my mind but it was hard. Greed, Gluttony, and Envy are by far the easiest to answer.
ReplyDeleteGreed- HP
Gluttony- HP. Hmmn... Why can't we talk about the Notebook, Reem? What is there to hide?
Envy- House of Hades by Rick Riordan
Wrath- Ahm. Not so sure. Maybe Lauren O.? But I can't definitely say that because I love all her books except Requiem. And I didn't know that you enjoyed Cassie Clare's works. I happen to enjoy them. I am more of a TID fan though. Maybe because I never liked Clary Fray of TMI.
Sloth- Inferno or Green Mile
Lust- Can I have 'em all? Way to go with your answer, Reem. Nyahahaha. Very creative!
Pride- I am quite shy to boast my knowledge about a certain book. But Fifty Shades, Reem? Seriously?
Stormdancer as adult -- yep! I believe Jay Kristoff said it was because there were sexy scenes o.O.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I love her blog posts and responses. Those are so very classy.
Those are the ones under my drawings, yeah? I love them! They are not awful at all, Reem. I meant to ask you to draw some more one day but I kept forgetting...
Hmm.. Lol er, maybe? I posted in defense of YA? I can't remember now o.O. It just bothers me how people disdain YA, so whenever I hear 'intellectual' or 'literary' merit thrown around, my hackles start to rise.
You mean the eyes-on-fire and gaze-like-a-lit-fuse and looking-at-Karou-as-if-he-only-saw-her? Yeah, can't see why that'd be romantic ;).
Ahhh, so your birthday is sometime in the summer and it's already passed? Pish posh about the shipping dilemma! We'd get it to you somehow!! (Hopefully.) Or give you a giftcard if you wanted to read on your computer...
Huh, really? Didn't know they could put it in adult category because of that. Weird.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? I found some of them very useful.
Err, I don't know. I mean, I like drawing, so I figured I'd relate it to something bookish. It's the reason why I bought Graffiti Moon. It has a street artist, and I want to draw the things he did.
Don't ask me. I have the memory of a fish, really. OOH, wait! Was it the Bechdel test thingie? Probably.
Or the widow's peak. Or the unearthly beauty. Nothing romantic about that. Blekh.
Yeah, it's in May. And good thing you reminded me, I want to post a gift card giveaway around soon.
Both HP? Nice! Oh, and forget about the Notebook. shoo, shoo (I hated it).
ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy them, but then I turned against TMI :P Although people do prefer TID more. Ugh.. Clary was frustrating!
Dan Brown's books are either realllly loved, or really hated, so I don't blame you :P
You can have everythhing!! :P all the IREAD&TELL
Ha! I didn't actually read 50SOG, but if I did, I'd totally be boasting about it. Okay, no. Not really.
lol... I'm not at all surprised about Requiem being your Sloth book. For me, it's Unravel Me, just because I know I'm not going to like all the Warner junk.
ReplyDeleteYay for Lips Touch being on your wishlist! It's one of my faves. :)
I know right? Sooo many people same to hate it, and I don't want to waste my time. Is unravel me the second or the first book? But yeah, people either hate or love Mafi's writing.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to get this book one day! Probably on Kindle since the PB copy is really pricey :P
Unravel Me is the second one. The writing is interesting and different, and it's the only reason Shatter Me caught my eye to begin with. I wasn't enthralled with it, in the end, though, so I'm in no rush for Unravel Me.
ReplyDeleteI know how it feels!! I think that's why I never buy sequels unless I've read the actual book. My feelings can't be trusted :P
ReplyDeletelol well, that only makes sense! I do the same.
