Which brought me to the idea: LET'S PLAY WOULD YOU RATHER!!
1.Would you rather choose a very well written book (I'm talking words of gold here), with a very dull plot, OR, a very interesting plot written in a way that threatens to make your eyes bleed?
My answer: I think I would go with the well written book. If you don't know, there's this little editor that lives inside of me and points out all the mistakes in a book. If I ever read a badly written book, I would have a hard time enjoying it because of the little jerk.
2.Would you rather meet your favorite author while making a complete fool out of yourself, or have your most hated book character be your roommate?
My answer: Oh.. that's tough. I think the whole making a fool out of myself is too much to handle. I mean, I will have a hard time bouncing back from that. I will go with the second choice because a) How cool would it be to have a fictional character come to life? and b) I will try to convince them to bring more fictional characters into our dimension. BAM, fictional character party!
3. Would you rather be Katniss Everdeeen, and get thrown into THG, with no guarantee you'll win, or be Harry Potter, and get thrown into the Triwizard Tournament, with again no guarantee of winning?
My answer: Hmm, I think I'll go with Harry Potter. I mean, in the hunger games, you either win or you die, and let's face it, my survival skills are downright embarrassing. At least with Harry Potter the odds are in my favor. Except, you know, the part where I come across Voldemort...
4. Would you rather have a pet dragon that accidentally sets things on fire, or a pet parrot that tells people what you really think of them?
My answer: I'm sorry, you lost me after dragon. I'll go with the dragon, OFCOURSE!
5. Would you rather be the super villain in a story, and get to survive, or the superhero and die midway?
My answer: Again, you lost me after villain. Where do I sign up for my villain costume, please?

Alright, I want to know your picks for those situation. Enlighten me, angry french fries.. (It's been a long time since I gave you guys a nickname, so I saved best for last )
Also, feel free to do this on your own blog too! Whether you stick to those questions or add new ones is up to you. The more the merrier ;)
Great idea! I love the questions and your answers. I would choose the same, except I would prefer an interesting plot, a well written book that's boring I wouldn't be able to finish :)
ReplyDeleteEveline's Books
Lol, great post. I don't know if I would turn into a hero or evil rooming with my most hated character. Hopefully, my pet dragon would totally keep him in check. ;)
ReplyDeleteYay, I love Would You Rather! Don't mind if I do...
ReplyDelete1. An interesting plot with bad writing. I don't notice writing errors very often. For example, once a blogger talked about how APPALLING the writing of this one book was and I just sat there, blinking. I honestly did not notice the badness of the writing AT ALL. But say, I did notice. I would be frustrated but since this book has such an interesting plot, I would be able to continue reading. Yay!
2. My most hated fictional character. Because they weren't evil, just annoying. And God knows how many annoying people I've met in my few years.
3. Harry Potter. Why would I ever want to kill people? No, just no.
4. Awww, dragon! I'm going to say dragon as well!
5. 'Where do I sign up for my villain costume, please?' Basically.
1. This is tough. I think the well written book would be my choice...I get extremely frustrated by poorly written books.
ReplyDelete2. ...Meet JK Rowling and embarrass myself or have Umbridge as my roommate...are you kidding me?! I think I would meet JK, she seems really nice and I'm sure she'd shrug off whatever the crap I did to embarrass myself.
3.Harry Potter all the way.
4. Parrot. I have a lot of books and the moment that dragon set a book on fire is the moment I'd end up having dragon skin armor or something.
5.Villian, duh! It's no fun being the hero. :P
What a great idea, Reem! This is so much fun!! I love your answers. Totally agree about being the villain, too, lol. Can't wait to do this on my blog too! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this - such a cool post!
ReplyDelete1. I'd definitely go with the well-written book. If it's written well enough you don't tend to notice that the plot is lacking, because the writing and characters more than make up for it!
2. I'd go for meeting my favourite author - I think John Green is cool enough to like people who make fools out of themselves even more.
3. Triwizard Tournament because, uhm, I'D HAVE MAGIC. And Dumbledore would totally have my back (talking pre-Half Blood Prince, of course)
4. I get to pet a dragon? DRAGON!
5. Super-villain fo' sure! Maybe I'd redeem myself right at the end by buying the hero some puppies or something
- Allie @ Little Birdie Books
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH this is so much fun!! I'm gonna do it right now, right here. Ready, fellow villain? hahaha
ReplyDelete1. Hmmm... I want the badly written + interesting plot. If the book is really good, I can excuse the bad edit. But, at the same time, if it's written with a beautiful prose (like Tahereh Mafi or Maggie Stiefvater), I can read it. I wont enjoy it, but I'll read it.
2. Ugh, the second one. I don't want to be labele "psycho blogger". Also, if I have my most hated character as a roommate, that gives me the opportunity to inflict some pain for all the headaches....
3. Harry Potter. No arguing. I don't want to die. I'm too young to die. OKAY
4. Either is fine with me. I wouldn't care about the parrot's honesty at my expense because I always tell people what I think about them in their face. The only thing he'll accomplish is make some of them cry :D On the other hand, having a dragon who can set my enemies on fire? BRING IT ON FIRE-BOY
5. Maybe you got lost after "villain", but I got lost after "survive". Sorry, I'll do anything to survive. If I have to be the villain, so be it. It's only a perk anyway :D + the pet fire-breathing dragon... I'll be freaking unstoppable.
Angry french fries... is it just me or does this sound like an actual villain name? Or is it the fact that you're saying it? You Number 1 Villain, you!
1) I guess I'd go with the well written + boring plot one. When I imagine the badly written one I imagine like text talk so it'd be like "1 day this grl 8 a bannnaannanaa." I would die. DIE!
ReplyDelete2) I would rather meet the author and make a fool out of myself. I mean, it only seems likely this would happen to begin with. The thought of meeting a character I hate freaks me out. A) I'd question my sanity, which isn't cool. B) I'd probably end up in jail for murder. Less cool.
3) I'm going to go with HP. I have absolutely no survival skills. I rather wave a little stick around and get eaten by a dragon than stabbed to death by another person. If I'm going to die, might as well let it be epic.
4) Dragon. I'd put him in a fireproof bubble and roll him around.
5) Duh, villain all the way! Plus, who doesn't want to hear my villain monologue? It shall be the greatest, longest, rambliest monologue of them all!
YAY! Fun post!!!
ReplyDelete1. I would also go with the well written one. I cannot STAND too many typos in a book - it makes my heart feel sad.
2. I think I'd go with making a fool out of myself. Most of the book characters I like the least are villains, and they would probably kill me in my sleep if I shared a room with them.
3. The Triwizard Tournament, please. Yeah, it would be insanely hard, but I could quit anytime I wanted to without the risk of dying (which would definitely happen to me in the hunger games, I'd be lucky to make it through ten minutes).
4. Mmmm....the dragon. I can put him next to people I don't like. :D
5. Well, it would be kinda fun to be the bad guy. ;)
It does make sense, considering you won't have to sit through what might be a boring yet very well written book.
ReplyDeleteIf you're a villain rooming with your most hated character, then they wouldn't dare upset you ;)
ReplyDeleteOooh, you're luck, trust me! Having a part of your brain picking at every word an author writes is very, very exhausting!
ReplyDeleteHa, yeah, annoying people are everywhere, you might as well make use out of it.
And yes, yes and yes to that. You, Annie, have made great choices ;)
Ha! I think JK Rowling has met enough fans already, she must have come across some embarrassing encounters. plus, having Umbrigde as your roommate must be hellish! Good choice.
ReplyDeleteYaaay for the villain love I see around here. I'm talking each and every one of you into becoming a villain. It's my evil plan ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see your post, Kelly :)
Oh this is so fantastic Reem! Really cool idea:)
ReplyDelete1) I would definitely choose a well written one. I already had two bad experiences reading books that had interesting plots, but with awkward writing and characters that made me roll my eyes and just sigh in defeat.
2)Okay so I have to confess that I seem to do well in front of celebrities lol. I met Stephen Amell last Saturday (he plays Green Arrow/Oliver Queen in the tv show Arrow) and I was surprised that I didn't say something stupid. I actually said that I love his show and good luck in the future. I think I'd go with my favourite author ;)
3)I have to go with my childhood hero Harry Potter. I think if I got to fly the firebolt and swim with mer people (even though they're mean and weird) I'd be able to die happy. Providing that I get to meet the rest of the Hogwarts cast of course ;).
4)Lol I'm going to go with a Pet Parrot. I love Parrots and I think they would keep me entertained.
5)Urghhh this is such a tough one. If I get to be a supervillain it's got to be very Loki-esque. That being said I totally would be Batgirl if I had the memory, intellect and fighting abilities of Barbara Gordon ;).
Exactly! I think I can be mesmerized with the writing enough, that I won't notice the lacking plot.
ReplyDeleteOh, and definitely choose meeting John Green. He looks like a fun guy who wouldn't mind such thing. If anything, I think he'll embrace it :P
And yes, Triwizard Tournament is the obvious easier choice here!
Puppies would definitely work. It's how all the villains/heroes make up anyway ;)
You're lucky! I can't stand a badly written book, even if the plot is amazeballs. And YES for going with the second choice. I was actually thinking the same thing, like I would vent all my anger on this fictional character. Umbridge is going DOWN!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I'd go with the Triwizard Tournament. Plus, I get to meet Voldie. I have some serious fan questions for the dude.
DAAAMN, I like your honesty! Plus, wouldn't be awesome to hear a parrot telling someone to shut up? People would pay gold to see that.
The Angry French Fry would make a great name for a villain! It just makes me shiver, you know?
I know right? And oooooh, if I ever read a book with someone saying "ate a banana" I'll remember this comment. And then, you know, DIE.
ReplyDeleteThere IS a chance I will make a fool out of my self anyway so yeah.. your choice makes sense.
YES! Plus, you'll have magic and crap.
Niiiiiicee! You're a little genius, aren't ya?!
I WANT TO HEAR YOUR VILLAIN MONOLOGUE!!
It makes my heart feel sad, AND, my brain feeel like it's being squished. yeah, reading is really tough for me.
ReplyDeleteHA! Yeah, there is a chance that might happen. My most hated ones are annoying not evil, so there's that :P
There is a chance Voldie would make an appearance, but whatever, I am Harry freaking Potter! I'll take him down.
I know, right? I mean I love a good plot and everything, but there's a bigger chance in noticing bad writing than a flawed plot.
ReplyDeleteWow! You're lucky! I don't know how I am around famous people, 'cause I never met one, but I'm gonna go with disastrously awkward, so yeah.. :P
And yes, every one picks Harry Potter. It's the easy choice, really. I mean, who wouldn't?!?!
It would be hilarious watching the parrot shooing people off.
YAAY for Loki! He's the only villain I can call cute. Or I dunno, I probably think they're all cute :P
Just an introduction, I haven't yet read any of Laini Taylor's works but I'm striving hard to spare some time to start The Daughter of Smoke and Bone.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, back to the real topic..
1. Can't I not choose between these two? A well written one with a boring plot is also torture for me, Reem. But the latter is also torture. But if I think of it ... maybe I need to be the black sheep here. I think I'mma go for the the latter after all. Typos but with interesting plot and maybe some interesting characters wouldn't be so bad because it can still be fixed by an editor. Hahaha. I think I may have to run because the other commenters below would be after my arse with this answer.
2. I'd prefer to have my most hated character be my roommate. It's the best isn't it? What if it's Umbridge, Reem? I can bully her to death don't you think? Hahaha!
3. Harry Potter all the way. Even if there's no guarantee in winning, at least there's a higher chance of coming back alive from the Triwizard tourney, isn't it? I can even rule out Voldy as a fear factor because I can always slack during the last trial. That way, I wouldn't ever get a chance of getting the Triwizard Cup.
4. What the pet parrot can do is really awkward but I think I can live with it. That dragon is a pesky and unstable beast and who knows, it might torch you in the end if it ran out of something to burn.
5. Super villain FOR THE WIN! Weeeee! The scheming, the plotting, and that very fulfilling evil laugh! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! Plus I can command, bully and demean all my minions and they will love me even more!
Exactly! A little disagreement over trying to conquer the world is nothing a box of puppies can't solve!
ReplyDeleteI'd want to have the parrot, actually, as long as people won't know that it's my real thoughts about them. That way, I can bring it everywhere and then let it do the talking for me. c(:
ReplyDeleteHahahaa, no running here, don't worry. But yeah, your choice does make sense. It's all about how much bad writing you can take, you know:D
ReplyDeleteYou CAN bully her to death, that witch! Ugh, I think she's the most character of everyone here :D
I know right? I'd want to live, AND do it with style. Magic is the way to go, tbh :D
Ha! I don't think I can. It might do some reaaalll embarrassing things, plus it's my life long dream to have a dragon, so yeah..
I'm loving that everyone is choosing the super villain. I WILL MAKE VILLAINS OUT OF YOU GUYSS!!
That does sound like a smart idea! People might chase it away, though :P
ReplyDeleteIt's the recipe for success ;)
ReplyDelete1. When I saw the question, my first impulse was to pick the badly written book with the interesting plot. But then I thought about my DNFs, and they're often in that category because of bad writing. So I guess I'll have to go with the dull, well-written book (though there's no guarantee I'd finish one of those, either).
ReplyDelete2. I'd much rather make a fool out of myself than have to live with some of the horrible characters I've read about. Some of them would probably kill me in my sleep!
3. I'd rather be Harry Potter in the Triwizard Tournament. At least I wouldn't be expected to kill people.
4. I'd rather have the parrot. I'm too chicken to say what I really think, so it would be nice to have the parrot to do that for me. And the dragon sounds expensive; you'd need to get a lot of extra home insurance.
5. I'd rather be the superhero, even if it does mean an early death. If I'm a superhero, then I would probably die doing something super noble and heroic... which would be a much better option than doing a bunch of evil deeds and hurting/killing people in the process.
I know right? Nothing turns me off than immature or bad writing. It might be hard to stick to it because of the dull plot, but atleast I wouldn't pull at my hair every few seconds :P
ReplyDeleteHa! I suppose it's a good thing my most hated characters aren't serial killers, then? :D
It's the better choice, obviously. Hmm, I wonder if I should have made that question a little harder.
I'd probably use my dragon to do all my dirty work. Maybe I'll even rule the world with it.. interesting..
Ha! You're the only one who chose to be a superhero. Very brave choice there :P
This is such a cool idea! Have I ever told you that you come up with the most original stuff ever? Well, you do. :)
ReplyDelete1. I'd go with the well-written book, too. Even though I dislike books with weak/horrible plots, nothing can beat make-your-eyes-bleed writing.
2. Eh... both are undesirable, but if it means bringing a fictional character to life, who am I to say no?! Besides, I probably wouldn't make much of a fool out of myself in front of an author, because all I'd do is silently squeal (with a totally emotionless outward appearance. I'm weird like that.)
3. HARRY POTTER. FOR SHO. I mean, as much as I love THG, HP will always be first. And it would be amazeballs if the world of HP turned out to be real. Hell, I don't even think dying would be on my to-care list because I'd be so grateful to be able to experience magic for just a second!
4. This is worst than that author question! I suppose I'd like a dragon, but if that means I'm going to have to replace charred books several times a week, then maybe it's not so practical, right? Plus, I can always leave the stupid parrot at home or kill it afterward (kidding). ;) Parrot, I guess.
5. VILLAIN. God, it would be so cool being the bad guy. I love heroes and all, but give the villain credit too, yanno?!
FRENCH FRIES. Why should FFs be the best? I think you once included one with ice cream.
ReplyDelete1.Would you rather choose a very well written book (I'm talking words of gold here), with a very dull plot, OR, a very interesting plot written in a way that threatens to make your eyes bleed?
Well written book. Reminds me of the classics - the dull plot. I'm with you on the inner editor. I literally could not get past the first page of one book because I could not deal with the writing / was scratching words out in my head.
2.Would you rather meet your favorite author while making a complete fool out of yourself, or have your most hated book character be your roommate?
Making a fool out of myself. I do it on a daily basis and yeah, sometimes I don't bounce back from that but ;). (Though it also depends on what making a fool out yourself entails.). It would be really cool to have a fictional character come to life. I hope you get your fictional character party :).
3. Would you rather be Katniss Everdeeen, and get thrown into THG, with no guarantee you'll win, or be Harry Potter, and get thrown into the Triwizard Tournament, with again no guarantee of winning?
Harry Potter! At least, if you die, you get made into a martyr like Diggory lol. And as you said, THG is either win or die; at least with HP, you might have Dumbledore or be one of the lower ranked Champions.
4. Would you rather have a pet dragon that accidentally sets things on fire, or a pet parrot that tells people what you really think of them?
Oooh. Parrot I guess. I'd watch out what I'd say in front of it then. Dragon is cool until it sets you on fire o.O.
5. Would you rather be the super villain in a story, and get to survive, or the superhero and die midway?
Hahaha these questions were designed just for you. This is an ode to your villain post :). Everyone's a villain and hero depending on your POV so let me survive, I say!
I love this!!! So let's play:
ReplyDelete1. very interesting plot written in a way that threatens to make your eyes bleed - because no matter well-written, boring is boring
2. meet your favorite author while making a complete fool out of yourself - because I never in my life had a roommate and to start it someone I hate? No thanks. And I don't care if I make a fool out of myself. If it's the "price" I've pay to get to meet....Stephen King I'd gladly pay it :)
3. Harry Potter - no question. I'm not tough enough for THG
4. DRAGON - he'd just have to stay outside where he can't set anything on fire ;)
5. villain - what can I say? I <3 villains and I want to stay alive XD
Awww, that's so nice of you :)
ReplyDeleteYes! You picked right there. Even though it might be a reaaaally boring book. Whatever :P
Right? Right? Just the idea of bringing a fictional character to life is awesome enough, and i'd go with it. Aaah, the silent squeal. I do it all the time.
Obviously! I don't know who would pick the Hunger Games. Maybe people with awesome survival skills? I dunno.
Oh, heeelll no. My dragon would never burn my books. It would be one of our rules, y'know? But parrot does make sense, although I don't know. I don't like parrots much.
YESS!! Villains are awesome!!
Yes!! Especially if I'm going in with bad impressions, then my editor will go all crazy on me.
ReplyDeleteI would totally get my fictional character party. You just wait and see. It will be awesome!
I knew I should have made that question harder! But who am I kidding? HP will win all the time.
My dragon would never set me on fire. It's my cutie pet.
YESS!! I literally couldn't make this post without including something about villains. So yes, you did the right thing.
I guess that makes sense. I read books that were well written yet boring (*cough* classics *cough*)
ReplyDeleteHa! I don't know if I could handle that. But if it's a really famous author, then I bet hey had their fair share of crazy fans, so I'm cool.
Harry Potter FTW :D
YES!! who wouldn't pick a dragon, amirite? ;)
embrace your inner villainy, Cayce!!
Here's my post you beautiful, albeit slightly scary, being http://aliaaelnashar.blogspot.com/2013/10/would-you-rather-1.html
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Slightly. you're in for a surprise ;p
ReplyDeleteI know this is an older post, but I've been planning to post my list for a while and I kept pushing it forward. Finally posted it: http://thedailyprophecy.blogspot.nl/2013/10/would-you-rather.html
ReplyDelete
