The Different Types of Readers

Spending time in a book reading community means you get to categorize some of the reviewers/readers after a while. Don't get me wrong, I love y'all! But everyone has a different approach to reading.

And now, I'll attempt to categorize YOU! (be scared.)

Type A: The Fast Reader, aka, the swag master.

Strength: When faced with a pile of ARCs that will expire, the swag master is able to devour all of them within a week. The swag master puts reading first, and everything else second.

Weakness: The swag master most likely walks with an empty wallet, because they consume books faster than most.

Type B: The Slow Reader, aka, the chill pill.

Strength: Taking
a lot of time reading a book means they are able to fully analyze the itty bitty details. They'll read sentences over and over again just because they liked them. They don't give a fuck about their reading schedule because friend... they are da chill pill!

Weakness: Don't lend them your books. Dear god don't EVER LEND THEM YOUR BOOKS!

Type C: The Know It All, aka, the hermoine granger.

Strength: The hermoine granger is able to both read a book quickly AND fully analyze it, writing a constructive review that leaves you somewhat suicidal envious.

Weakness: I don't know man. I mean they're just so goddamn good at what they do. Ugh.. stupid perfect readers!

Type D: The Compulsive Buyer, aka, the bookish Paris Hilton.

Strength: They have a book shelf you'd die for.

Weakness: They've only read 10% of said bookshelf.

Type E: The Emotional Reader, aka, the bookish drama queen.

Strength:  They probably enjoy the reading experience more than anyone, because they become ridiculously invested in the story.

Weakness: Their book hangovers extend to days, if not weeks.

Type F: The Hard to Please Reader, aka, authors' worst nightmare.

Strength: They get to write the best ranty reviews (which let's admit, we ALL enjoy).

Weakness: When they do find that book that pleases them, they will NEVER stop talking about it. Matter of fact, they become so in love with said book, they slowly mutate into becoming a clone of it. (Yes, they become a bunch of papers in a pretty cover. I've seen it happen, OK?)

Type G: The Cover Lover, aka, all of us. (Don't deny it.)

Strength: They don't care about yo' blurb, or yo' author. All they care about is pretty ass cover of yours and dat pretty ass font that comes with it.

Weakness: They come across some shitty books with good covers, and miss out on some good yet ugly ones.

So now that I told you how I might categorize all of you bookish freaks, what type are you?! Oh, and please don't judge my drawing skills (or IQ level) by those illustrations I just pulled off, k?

  1. I love your drawings! Makes my drawings feel less alone in the blogosphere. ;)

Hmmm and I'm not sure which one I am. I'm definitely a cover lover. Otherwise I guess I'm a cross between a slow reader and the know it all. Because I read what I want when i want without too much pressure, and in general I like to consider myself a know-it-all. Haha. Cute post <3

Hahaha, I am totally a bit of all of these (except maybe the compulsive buyer - at least until I get a job!) And I know people who fit all these types. Also, your drawings are super adorable. :3

    ReplyDelete
  3. haha, I love this! And all your drawings! I don't know what I am, maybe emotional? Sometimes I cry at sad parts even if I don't really care much about the book, if that makes sense. Then I can just shrug off the feels after. If I'm really invested the hangovers are awful and there has been some book wussing, in which I put off finishing the book for a long period of time to escape the pain!

    Fun post!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Ha! Great post! I have no idea which one I am, but this post is sooooo accurate!

    ReplyDelete
  5. This is too good! I'm a fast reader when I am able to be and probably a know it all -- side effect of being an English major I suppose! LOVE covers, and I do get extremely attached to good books. I'm least likely to be the compulsive purchaser! Such a clever post idea!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ahaha I love this post Reem! Your drawings are so adorable :). I wish I could draw like you :). I think I'm a bit of all these readers combined into one. I'm definitely a cover lover-but it's only since I started to blog, I wasn't much of a cover judging person before. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not to be honest. Ohhh I definitely do fall into the fast reader category-but it's only for books that I've been dying to read. I just finished a book in about a day and a half because I wanted to know what happens, but I'm going to re-read it since I feel like I didn't properly process some things. Gotta love the emotional reader lol. I think we all are at some point ;).

    ReplyDelete
  7. Dammit! You never fail to make my day, Reem! I am definitely a Type E. I know I'm pathetic but can't help it. xD But I can sometimes be a Type A but I hate being like that. It seems like I'm insulting the book I'm reading. With being a Type E, I feel like I'm making everyone (the author, the publisher and myself) happy. Hahahaha.

Your drawings are awesome. <3 Personally, all I can manage is a stick and a circle. xD

    Great post again!

  8. I think the only one that really fits me perfectly is the cover lover one, because I can't buy a lot of books. I can't even get through a lot of ARCs in a week either, as much as I want to. But then, maybe it might be different if it were all print books.

    *shrug*

You should have made the type of reader who wants to spend the whole day reading but just has tons of other stuff to do/procrastinates/gets distracted easily. Like, seriously, Reem, how could you forget about ME? (LOL)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Type B. Definitely a slow reader. Not super slow, but not as fast as those that can consume a book in 1-2 days. I usually take twice as long. I don't think I analyze the itty bitty detail...but I do hope I'm reading carefully enough not to miss some important shadowing.

  10. Fantasy Is More FunAugust 4, 2013 at 12:53 AM

This was a great, fun post. I wish I was a type C reader, but really I think I have split personality b/c sometimes I'm A and sometimes I'm B. Lately I'm B and it's so frustrating to see my tbrs stacking up! Oh and I'm always a little bit of E lol.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Haha, I love this post! The drawings and the descriptions. I think I have a split book personality as I recognise myself in about 6 of these! The fast reader, sometimes a know it all, always a compulsive buyer, and yes an emotional reader and of course a cover lover! Very hard to keep all these different readers in me happy, no wonder I blog and vomit out my book thoughts!

  12. I think I am a mixture of C: Hermione Granger (minus the envious reviews) and the D: bookish Parish Hilton. I have some things in common with the other types as well, but I think I'm mostly these two. I do love buying books even when I have enough unread books waiting for me. Buying them and putting them on my shelves makes me so happy, haha.

This was a great post! :D I love your drawings XD I dunno what category I fall into, but I'm definitely not a Type A or D, since I read quite slow and have a pretty small shelf. My mom would kill me if I bought on impulse XD I'm a somewhat type E though, since I do get hangovers, especially with final books to trilogies I love. I do get all teary-eyed too! I'd like to think I'm a type C (no weaknesses WOOHOO) but I really don't know what people think of my reviews so maybe the E is more accurate. This helps a lot. HAHA! Love this post, Reem :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Haha, I love this post! Your drawings are really good! I'm definitely type A. When I buy new books or go to the library, my whole haul is usually read in a few days. And yes, the money problem is also applicable to me:)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm starting to get jealous of your creativity! How do you come up with such great posts all the time? I'm definitely a mixture of Type G and Type D. I love covers and I really do avoid books with covers I don't like unless someone has recommended it to me. I'm also known to be an extreme book buyer but around a quarter of the books on my shelf have been left unread. Oops. I'm not sure how envious of my books people would be though?

    Loved your drawings, Reem!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think I've gone through almost all these :D:D:D:

1.At the beginning of the year, I was totally a Swag Master - I read at least one book a day (with breaks, of course), but I was reading so fast and went through so many books that I almost miss that time.

    2. I was the chill-pill the last half of March xD I still am, a little. Sometimes I'm too lazy to even move my eyes to read (but I blame it on the weather!!!!)

    3. Okay, I'll never be a hermione granger. I. just. can't!

    4. So... I guess I'm a bookish Paris Hilton. Out of all the books I own, I think I've read about... 60%? Does that qualify me as a bookish Paris Hilton? PLEASE SAY NO DON'T RUIN MY LIFE. Every association with PH kills me. Which is why I enjoyed Wax House so much.

    5. When I'm waiting for a book for a long time, I get super invested in the story (I'm sure I'll do that as soon as I get my hands on The Dream Thieves). And I have many book hangovers because of these books... so I guess I'm not a full drama queen. YAY ME!

    6. I'm clean on that one :) I'm not that much of a nightmare!

    7. I AM SO THIS. I usually always look at the covers first. I read the summaries, too, but the covers determine whether it's going to be a physical copy or an eBook copy.

Aaaaaaaaaaand I love your drawings! Esp the bookish Paris Hilton!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yup, that's the point. Doodles should band together!

I guess slow readers tend to know everything about the book because they take time to absorb it all in? I'd definitely say yes!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm probably all of them too. My budget keeps from being a maniacal compulsive buyer, but there are always exceptions ;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I guess that makes sense. I tend to get very emotional with books as well, even if I don't like them that much. The hangovers suck though! :D

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yeah, I think I'm a little of everything too :D Thanks Kat!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ha! But that's awesome being an English major. I guess you're a little of everything?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Haha.. yup that's total art right there! :P

It's weird because I totally used to judge books by their cover before blogging because I didn't know anything about the author or whether this was a good book or not.

I once finished two books in a day! But I wouldn't do that again because everything got so confusing for me.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Aww! I'm glad Charlotte :)

I am totally a Type E too! Although not with every book. but when I do get emotionally attached... oh boy!

    Thanks Charlotte! <3

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am TOTALLY that reader! As I'm writing now, there's a book beside me eye-judging me. I guess that makes us slow readers? I dunno, but I can totally relate!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah, I only read one book per week (or review one atleast) but I used to be way faster!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ha! Yeah we all wish to be the C type, but what can you do? :/ I'm totlly emotional when I read books too!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I looove this. Definitely going to link back to this post.

The swag master--totally envious of them, but also some of them are not broke because they devote so much time to reading and blogging that they are given many, many ARCs, so sometimes they don't have to keep buying out of pocket o.O.

The slow reader--yes. Some of my friend *still* have my books. When they ask whether or not I want them back, I feel kind of guilty. Also, I want to discuss the books with them so readdddd them. Only I don't know how to say that convincingly enough.

Type C... I have no words for them.

Type D: ME ME ME. When I first started blogging. Which is why I now have a full page listing the books I own and begging people to recommend them to me so I can get them off the TBR.

Type E: I wish. There are very few books that give such an emotional experience for me.

Type F: Loloololol. (Even as I laugh, I wonder if I am like this. People ask me about a book, and unless it's one of my faves, the first thing I reply with is generally a negative o.O).

Reem, I want to know what type of reader YOU are. Are you all of the above meshed into one? And I love your drawings :P.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Haha! The reason I was able to write all those is because some part of them is in me. (Think horcruxes, but not as cool ;))

    ReplyDelete
  29. Haha! A mix between Paris Hilton and Hermione Granger? Now that's something!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I;m a slow reader too! And an emotional one. I think I'm a mix between all those.

Oh, and I'd say you're a hermione granger maybe (I love your reviews!)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ha! Yeah, they're precious art aren't they? :P

And you're soo lucky to be a fast reader! That must be awesome ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Too funny. I think I'm a hybrid of types B, D, and F... but mostly F.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bring the Swag Master Eve back! You OWE US some swaggy eve! But yeah, I think I'm totally like you. I used to be the ultimate swag master, but alas... the chill pill kicked in.

And I wouldn't claim to be a hermoine granger either! So not me! :P

And no, you're not Paris Hilton! ;) I haven't read about 30% of the books on my shelf, soo :P

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah, sometimes the swag masters have the best of both worlds! I didn't stick around to be a that kind though :P My reading eventually slowed down :D

I'm very wary of lending people books! The last time that happened the book got all ruined, and a little part of me died :P

Hmm, I think I started being a compulsive buyer when I started blogging. Although my budget keeps me in line, and for that I'm thankful!:P

What type of reader I am? Well, if I had to choose just one.. I'm gonna say the drama queen. That's right.. I'm a drama queen ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Haha! I'm flattered, Annie! ;)

    I must say, a combination of G and D would be awesome! :P I wish I was that :P

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oooh, do I hear an author trembling? O.o Lol, but seriously, when a reader like you does like a book, I think it matters a lot to whoever reads your review :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. LOL, hilarious post! Love it. I'm Type A, bow before me my minions. *Laughs evilly* Well, when I want to be. Otherwise I'm kind of slow because I lack motivation I am also a little G and F sprinkled in there, I can be pretty judgmental of books at times.

HAHAHA OMG I LOVE THIS!!! I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING & SMILING LIKE AN IDIOT. :)) cause this is so true! I really wish I was the swag master b/c I have 3 ARCs to read and they expire in 2 days :( Lol the chill pill is hilarious. I'm glad I'm not a chill pill, and yeah, don't lend them your books xD lol jk. Lmfao The Hard to Please Reader. That's def. me. but I don't rant and put gifs in my review. I've been blogging for a year and have read more than 100 books but I've only given seven 5 star reviews/ratings. Yeup. Of course, I'm def. the cover lover. Enough said.

    Leigh, LBS ★

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have no idea which I am but I love this post! I'm definitely not B, E or F & I'm kinda like G when I don't want to be D which means I turn out to be not much of an A... Isn't there a normal reader who can reasonably read a book or two within one week, who thinks covers are one of the good features of some books? *waves*
Also, I'd love to be C but I'm not going to flatter myself, I know my reviews are average and I wish I zoomed through books...
Did I hear you try & whisper that you're a drama queen? Girl, keep it out! :L You definitely have creativity, drama or not, and the drawings were a nice touch. You just hooked in another follower ;) *waves again*

    ReplyDelete
  40. oooh, that's awesome. We've got us a swag master over here? ;) And yeah, I can be pretty judgmental too, especially when it comes to books.

    ReplyDelete
  41. YAAY! This makes me happy!:P

Oh, some author must be trembling now! :P But I find that I'm am also not generous with 5 star ratings. Even if I do rate a book 5, I might deduct a star later on.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Nah, I think just being a book blogger makes you a C. (cause we are awesome, my friend!) And yeah, I love covers myself, and I can be quite judgmental of them. It's my inner design geek!:P

HA! I might be a drama queen :P But aww thank you Amy! I'm flattered!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yup, yup. Drawing of a book with EYES O.o

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hahaha, this post is awesome -- and I love your little drawings! I'm still not sure which category I would fall under, though. I think I'm some combination of A and B, because I DO like to get through books in a timely fashion, but I'm also not gobbling through 5 a week like other people (more like 5 a month?).

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ha! I didn't think there could ever be a combination of A and B, but yeah, it all depends on the book. If it grabs me in, then I'll read it really fast. Otherwise, I'm somewhat of a chill pill.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Love it! Not sure what kind I am. . . Partially part A, because I can read a book FAST, but then I tend to take breaks between books, so I don't get through 5 books a week. It feels wrong to say Type C, but I think I might lean that way a little bit ONLY because I was an English major. But I'm definitely an emotional reader as well!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Being a type C is pretty cool! I bet you are, being an english major and all (I want to major in English!).

    ReplyDelete
  48. LOL <333 this post!!

Let's see, I'm definitely a Fast Reader (although I'm slow at reviewing), and I'm also a bookish drama queen who is (very) hard to please. And a cover lover too. What can I say, I'm a girl, I like pretty things :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ooh, bookish drama queen that is hard to please? Authors better watch out! :P That's awesome that you're a fast reader, though.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I wish I could say I was C... but I think I'm A and D - although I've read more than 10%! Just can't stop buying...

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm definitely Type E the most, but I'm also a compulsive buyer and a cover whore. Haha. I wish I could be the Hermione Granger, but I don't think I am.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Love it! I must be a schizoid reader, because I recognize myself in The Cover Lover, The Hard to Please Reader, the Compulsive Buyer, the Fast Reader, and, I must admit some days I'm The Know it All. Great post!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think I'm mostly the Compulsive Buyer >.> I have probably read less than 10% of my shelf, but I read a lot of library books too!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh gosh, I am quite definitely the emotional reader. More than half the time I finish a book, I am either flailing, weeping or in a horrible slump because of a terribly slow book. :')

Is there a Type H for Library Books Hunter? Strength being we save more money and space than Type A/D, and the weakness is being judged (WHERE ARE YOUR BOOKS? WHERE IS YOUR BOOKSHELF? BLASPHEMY!!) and the inability to reread because going to the library again just cancels out any though of reborrowing the same book due to the massive selection available. :P

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ha! I think we're all compulsive buyers whether we like it or not. I just don't feel guilty buying book, because well.. they're awesome droplets of heaven! :P

    ReplyDelete
  56. Lucky! Being a fast reader must be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm totally an emotional reader as well! I love being invested in the story like that!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm one too, because a little part of me is all of the above mixed together.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think being a book compuslive buyer is the best kind there is. Atleast they're useful, you know? :D

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ooooh, I call type H the licky ones. I don't have a library where I live, so it didn't come to me, but I do know you guys exist. It must be tough choosing from all those books! I'd personally go bananas :P

    ReplyDelete
  64. i am like C,but with some D,E,F
    C-is me :D
    D-because i do buy a lot of books,that i can't read immediately
E-i always get emotional with what i read, and it could take me up to a month to get over a book....
and F -i do rearly like a book that much to say "that was amazing book"

  70. I'm an E. Yep most definitely an E.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Where do you live where there isn't a library?

    ReplyDelete
  72. I don't seen any guys commenting, but I'll throw in my own two cents. I would have to say that I've been a mix of all of these at one time or another, though I would guess that the two most common would have to be 'C' and 'D', though I have read 90% of my shelf, not 10%. It's a work in progress. I was actually looking for the category 'Re-reader'- sort of a version of the slow reader that will go back to books over and over again to wring every tiny bit of emotional and literary satisfaction out of them!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Type a all the way. kindle best invention ever

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm type A...and E :-?

    ReplyDelete
  75. in various ratios of A, D, & E

    ReplyDelete
  76. C, maybe with a touch of B, at least when I'm in the middle of a term.

    ReplyDelete
  77. It's possible to be a C, D, and F right?
Because hell..I'm all of those packed into one. Although I have read ore than 10% of my books, I own 4 containers of books about 5-10 lbs each. I get told a lot that I'm a living library.

    ReplyDelete
  78. What about the reader that gets both the hardback and the audio version of the book - Diana Gabaldon is the writer for me. I am definitely A and C - but I have more books in my bedroom than the average person. I know the workers at Barnes and Nobles by name and they know me. Have several authors that I simply walk up and buy their books because they are that great to read, I do not understand why people do not like to read. I am often found with a book while watching TV.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think I fit all of these porfiles. But more of the type B and D reader

    ReplyDelete
  80. Oh I am a very fast reader (at least 5 decent sized books per week) so i feel like i should say 'A' but I would say I am an 'E' as well because if I love the book then I will put it in my reread 'pile' (esp while i was waiting for that Sanderson to finish WOT for me...)while I have a lot of books (last move took 20+ boxes), the majority of books i read every year I have read before and some have been on there since primary school (like you can say no to Agatha or Austen)... i blame it on living in the boondocks and slow writers (I hate waiting for the next installment!) but when I try someone new out I will read everything they have ever published :D

    ReplyDelete
  81. I was hoping to find the unfocused reader, I can read articles and long messages or short stories, but give me a full length book, I'll never finish! I have to read and re-read. I find that I actually skim for pages and then have to go back to the last part I was paying attention to. :p

    ReplyDelete
  82. I am Type B :) and oh I love those illustrations :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. what am I the only f .???? 😳

    ReplyDelete
  84. Even I would qualify as the E type reader..
I read something and I relive those pages withing the covers that it devastatingly affects my relationship :P
But hey sometimes I am the fast reader too.. cause I am in a hurry to read more and more and more books.
But an amazing article really!! Got me emotional again :')

  85. A, is so me.
definitely a C, you have yet to see how I backfire with theories, and my power to observe, yeah, i'm vain :D
maybe D too, if I had enough money !. my side table is worth the envy though. But I read them too, so, not sure.
E, too, sometimes. like divergent, fault in our stars (OH EM GEE.)
F, with all the theories about how this or that idea could have been better or how dumb the idea was in the first place, And about how her dying was kinda pointless, cuz anyone could have done what she set out to do in the weapon's lab. so.freaking.poinless. (if you know who I mean) yeah.
G, the selection series cover, OMG. Divergent conver OMG and so on.. and yeah, the selection series do suck, no offense but the plot is weak, so is the protagonist.

  86. The elusive Scavenger Reader. This type will read most anything recommended to them and actually finish it. They tend to also read books they just happen to find or come across. They may not always like the book but they read it. They just don't want to put the time and the thought into making reading choices. Besides if a book is great it is a wonderful surprise, if it sucks is not their fault at all.

    ReplyDelete
  87. A, C and E :"> . I'm just like, "yea. this is really me!" . HAHA .

  88. The emotional reader..... <3

    ReplyDelete
  89. hhhhh your comments on the pictures are just funny. Anyway, I think I am a mixture of some types. I am like the Hermoine type, a slow reader. Sometimes when I like a quotation very much, I don't stop repeating it until I feel that something is wrong :D. My wallet is always empty because of books, which is cool with me. I am also a fast reader, but only when I don't like the book I am reading.

  90. I am a critic of reading reader type comparisons. When I see totally unnecessary gutter language in a reading comparison I wonder at the intelligence of the author of the comparison! Sad but I don't believe that swearing shows any kind of high quality authorship. My wife has said that her dad would challenge all his kids to search the dictionary to find the appropriate word.

  91. I really want to be a part of your discussion. My favorite book of 2013 is Marie Monville's story, "One Light Still Shines". If her name is unknown to anyone here, she was the wife of the man who shot the Amish girls in the school in Lancaster County, PA. Her story of faith and survival is awesome!

  92. You spelt Hermione wrong. :\

    It's pronounced Her-my-oh-nee, not Her-moi-nee.

  93. I would say B - a chill pill. (Though not as slow as this description sounds!)

  94. I admit to being a Type D, but "bookish Paris Hilton"????? That's just cruel.

  95. Definitely, the swag master with overtones of compulsive buyer. However, I have read most of mine.

  96. combination of C, E and partly D

If Im reading a fantasy or Romance Novel Im definitely the Emotional reader ((E))..
being a book lover since I was a little child and other personal traits made me be the Hermione Granger type ((C)) .. for I read fast, yet I savor each word and analyse it all at the same time.
((D)) .. I have to admit the compulsive Buyer thing is not just about books .. Im sort of a shopaholic .. I just cant resist the temptation when I go to the bookstore .. but 10% cant describe .. its more like 90% .. and I have to always have 10 new books at home so that I can choose from when I start to read something new

  97. I'm an ACDE from your list, but mostly an "H," the Book Binger, who when freed to read by travel/time, would rather pack a pile of books than clothes! Savor the choices, revel in each one, binge, binge, binge! On return to routine, it's back to "processing" words, rather than devouring them... Love reading blurbs! Book eyes always bigger than book tummy!

  98. What are ARCs, please?

  99. I'm an A, B, D, and E. Except with D I have read nearly all my books and it's when I have money. :p

  101. I'm C and E with a little bit of G :) My friends who read books get really frustrated with me because I'll recommend 4 or 5 books at a time and after they're done with those, I have a plethora of other recommendations for them to choose from. But very few can recommend books to me, since I've more than likely read all of them. I have gotten some good ones in the past though. I can tell you everything about the book I just read, but not why it made me cry like a baby who's mother just died. I'll admit, if the cover catches me, I'll give the book a look. You should add another one though. The genre snob- we find a genre we like and stick with it, with little to no branching out. if you recommend a book to us, the first question we usually ask about what genre it fits into and if it's not ours we'll smile and nod and add it to the long list of books we'll probably never read.

  102. Reading is most important in improving one's knowledge, but people differs in reading styles, since some are slow leaner while some are fast learners but the most important issue is that people should recognize for their own in terms of understanding in which class of learners they belong to, for clear and more knowledge.

  103. I am definitely the Hard To Please Reader. My husband will confirm that. I also have some Know It All in me, too.

  104. I'm a mix of type A, B and G :\

  105. I'm an emotional reader that values a well written book and will think about that book again and again. If I read a poorly written book I actually get mad :)..I rarely buy books but use my library for ebooks. When I have placed one on hold and it comes through I'm like a kid at Disneyland! And don't get me started on poorly edited books... Omg. :)

  106. i didn't see myself in any of the above.... love books all kinds-well most all kinds and love absolutely love books where I can lose myself in the book and become a part of it..... those books??? I am guilty of reading until finished! can make you late for things.... I had/loads left behind when I moved overseas but they were all ones that had been read...and re-read.... authors I loved as a child and adult... I crave books as some do music(which is a close very close second for me) and I buy according to authors I like/love or have heard about and think I might like.... a little guilty secret??? when younger...much younger I chose a book based on the last four/five pages of said book drove the librarian mad! psst.... still do it sometimes even today!

  107. I'm definitely a Type A. I read 104 books last year(which I only mention because I'm super proud of myself). I'd like to be a Type C, but I've been told I'm entirely too lenient on books that I enjoyed and I will end up looking past their weak spots too easily. That's fine though... it simply means that I tend to enjoy my books more, even if I read through them like they won't be there tomorrow

  108. I don't read quite that fast (only 104 books this year), but the re-reader is definitely a thing. I tend to re-read 5-20 books every year. Usually, whenever the new book in a series I've been enjoying comes out and I feel the need to re-read the whole series again to remind myself of "The Story So Far".

  109. Nexus 7! It gives me the Kindle and Kobo apps, plus the flexibility of a full tablet! It's the best electronic device purchase I've made in the last 5 years.

    ReplyDelete
  110. My husband is too. It makes it hard to enjoy the same novels since I'll love a book and he'll be raging angrily about it.

  111. Advance Reader Copies. Authors and publishing houses will send out a few prior to the release of most books in the hopes of getting a good review before the book comes out. If you go to Goodreads you should be able to find more than a few ARC contests going on at any given time.

    Hope this helps!

  114. I'm a hybrid. The Slow + Emotional Reader. Sounds about right.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I'm a Know it All (aka Hermione) with a large streak of emotional drama queen. I wonder if I am alone in this weird thing... I am always plagued by a kind of persistent anxiety that I will finish my current book and have nothing to read and the library will be closed and I will have to resort to reading on my phone. With that in mind I am always rationing my reading...keeping a weather eye on my current novel and stack, making sure whatever I have on hand will last me until my next trip.
